Your home doesn’t fit you anymore so change how you live in your home
You’re not alone if you walk into your home and feel… deflated. Like the space just doesn’t fit you anymore.
But here’s the truth: your home likely isn’t the real problem. The way you’re currently living in it just no longer matches your needs, routines, or energy. You need to change how you live in your home, so that it supports you now and into the future.

Sitting Room corner, leather sofa and plant
There was a reason you bought this house, something that clicked when you first saw it and over the years that reason can be forgotten or hidden by the accumulation of stuff that hides the good bones of the house. Your home becomes tied up with emotions and the life that was lived there, but it just no longer works for you.

Unreal expectations from TV and magazines
You probably watch home renovation programmes and read interior magazines and the idealistic images of these picture perfect homes seem so far removed from your reality. The thing is these are styled and prepped for filming/photography, they are not real either!! But you can have a better home space, one that works for you, it can look beautiful and also function. Not picture perfect, but warm, homely, lived in and representing you and your family.
You have changed, but has your home?
You change, maybe you moved into your house with small children and they have grown and are now teenagers, or they have moved away and are living their own lives. Your home shouldn’t stay the same for your whole lifetime. Maybe you have a playroom that worked when the kids were 3, 5 and 7 but now they are teenagers and need a space to watch movies with friends. Maybe you have changed jobs and now work from home, but haven’t fully created a dedicated home office, and work from the kitchen table, but you have a spare bedroom upstairs, lying empty.

That feeling of dissatisfaction with your home
We grow, we evolve, our families change, but our homes often stay the same. And that disconnection creates tension you can feel in your day-to-day life. You mightn’t be able to put a name on it or it mightn’t be things you consciously notice, but the feeling is there. Do you love your home when you come in the front door? You should. It’s your sanctuary, your personal space where you should feel safe, comfortable and supported.
Clients often come to me feeling like they need to move or completely renovate their homes, they have had enough. Years of living with non-functioning spaces, dark or cluttered rooms has overwhelmed them. Most of the time, a considered rethink of the layout, function, and flow can transform how you experience your space.

Wasted space in your home
A recent client felt like her living room was “dead space”, they never used it. We shifted the furniture, layered in warmth and texture, opened up to the views outside, brought natural elements into the space and carved out an intentional space for her morning coffee. Now it’s her favourite room in the house.

Even if you have a large home every room should have a purpose and should be set up ready to be used. Maybe not every day but if you want to use it, it should be ready.
It doesn’t have to be perfect
Design isn’t about perfection, far from it, it’s about alignment. If your home no longer fits your life, we can change that.
Action Steps to Start Living Better in Your Home Today
If this blog has struck a chord with you, take a moment to consider these small but powerful steps that can shift how you experience your home:
1. Identify your “dead space”
Walk through your home and ask yourself honestly: Which rooms or corners aren’t serving me? Don’t think about perfection, just notice what’s not being used or feels uncomfortable.
2. Tune into how each room makes you feel
Stand in each room and check in: Does this space energise me? Relax me? Stress me out? That feeling is a clue to whether the space is aligned with your current lifestyle.
3. Choose one room to reimagine
You don’t have to overhaul your entire home. Start with one room or even one corner. Ask yourself:
What do I use this space for now?
What would I like to use it for?
What’s stopping that from happening?
4. Clear the visual noise
Declutter with purpose. Remove items that no longer serve you or the way you live now. This isn’t about minimalism, it’s about making space for what matters today.
5. Create one intentional daily-use area
It could be a coffee corner, a reading chair by the window, or a clearer desk space. Set up just one area that feels completely yours and supports a daily ritual.
6. Ask for support if you’re feeling stuck
You don’t have to do it alone. Sometimes an outside perspective makes all the difference. If you’re unsure where to begin, get in touch.

“We really needed help with zoning our open plan space. Celine was attentive and tailored the brief to our needs. She provided us with a very detailed plan for zoning which included instant, manageable and economical fixes to zoning the space. I would highly recommend Celine before undertaking any interior design projects.” – Naoise Mulcahy, Limerick
