  • "Best Buy" is my original art by @reidymaurice
@houseandhomemagazine
@harveynormanie
.
I fell in love with it when I borrowed it for a photoshoot in our house and I couldn't bear to let it go so I bought it ๐ŸŒŸ
.
I believe you will never regret buying original art that you love.
It has the story of the artist, the story of the painting and the hours of work that went into it all for you to appreciate every time you look at it.
.
I always share local Irish artists with my clients to inspire them when I design their spaces.
.
Late post from me today, it's been one of those days but had a great onsite consultation with a new client and got to see my lovely friend and @networkireland_limerick colleague Linda her beautiful garden centre @rockbartongardencentre
  • "October Vibes" for @houseandhomemagazine and @harveynormanie competition
.
For a simple, sustainable way to decorate for Autumn, use real pumpkins, conkers and dried flowers and branches.
Move around your furniture and accessories and swap out your summer cushions for some cosy, fluffy wool throws and cushions.
.
Happy Autumn decorating ๐ŸคŽ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿค๐Ÿ–ค
  • Sunny Sunday morning ๐Ÿ’›
.
After all the rain yesterday, hope you are taking it easy today and enjoying the day whatever you get up to. I think a sunny Sunday really sets you up for the week no matter what comes ๐Ÿ˜˜
  • BTS of my work process for an open plan space design..SWIPE to see how I'm doing it
.
Change of scene to the kitchen to work on this project for an open plan space (that's mid-construction!)
.
It's a much longed for space for the whole family and is years in the planning and saving.
.
The brief is to create a warm and cosy space that works during the day as a commercial kitchen and in the evenings as a family space. That divides between public and private spaces. That makes the most of the beautiful views of the countryside around it. That the zones work for the different family members.
That we introduce colour and represent the personality of the family.
.
* First step was a phone chat then a questionnaire from the client to find out what she was looking for in more detail
* A site visit to meet in person, chat more, walk the site, measure and photograph
* Inspiration from magazines and Pinterest
* Looking at rich colours that are going to bring the whole space alive
* Floor plan drawn out, different layouts tried, built in bench seating or not?
* Samples put together
* Moodboards curated
* Sourcing furniture that works with the design and budget
Now just need to put it all together and send it out ๐ŸŽŠ
.
If you have a space you would like done in time for Christmas I am now taking bookings for mid-late November

  • The difference a new door, lighting and paint colours makes to this hallway. The walls, doors, skirting and architraves were painted to lighten the space.
.
It just goes to show the power of paint, the impact of decluttering and also adding in some greenery. Your hallway is the first space that greets you when you come home and I know from experience the difference in walking through the front door to be greeted by calm versus pushing the door open to see coats, bags, shoes, football boots, hurleys strewn everywhere ๐Ÿ™„
.
If you can add storage to your hallway then do, either built-in or standalone pieces. Have a hook for everyone to hang their coats, baskets or drawers for shoes and a mat to wipe dirty shoes before you take them off.
Next you can think about colour, texture, lighting, mirrors etc. but get the functionality right first ๐Ÿ
.
This gorgeous house in Co. Clare got a total makeover when an extension was being added to the side of the house.
  • This room needs a major overhaul (not least to fix the ceiling after a leak ๐Ÿ™„)
...but for now we are just moving beds and furniture to give it a slightly improved new look (trying to keep siblings happy!)
.
And interestingly I just got an email enquiry about designing a pre-teen bedroom!! Yay ๐Ÿฅณ
.
SWIPE to see how it has changed over the years
.
Next phase will be to pull out the wardrobes, change the colour scheme and layout. For now this will have to do!
.
How about you, do you have happy memories of sharing a room with a sibling????
  • Lovely updates to this open plan space in the last year. Worked with great clients to add colour, texture, new sofas, rugs, lighting, etc, and to zone this gorgeous open plan space.
.
Was delighted to get back to photograph the space recently. Looking forward to updating my website and including more client photos on it.
.

  • My Friday in 10 photos..
.
Started the day right with a 7am workout with Lais in @sweatbox.limerick
.
* Packed my bag for a site visit (workbooks, drawing pad, notebook, pencils, pens, business cards, tape measures, paint charts)
* Reviewed their client questionnaire before we met
* Chatted to my lovely clients, shared lots of laughs and discussed challenges and desires for the space.
* Took photos and did a site measurement
* Curater some colour and fabric selections as a starting point for the design
* Popped into @tadhgoconnorltd
and saw their fab stock and chatted to Eamon and Brian
* Stopped at @dandmgc to see their lovely Autumn display
* Listened to @amyporterfield "Course Confident" video recording
.
Pizza dinner, glass of wine, gas fire on (first time!!) and some Tiny House Nation on @netflixuk
.
How about you? How was your Friday?
  • A new client resource...
.
It can be daunting if you haven't worked with an Interior Designer before to know how an onsite consultation will go, what will we talk about, what might I ask you, what should you have thought about before I arrive, how will the meeting run?
.
I've put together a workbook that I send to my clients before I arrive that they can have a read through and write on if they like. It's not homework and I won't be checking it ๐Ÿ˜‰
.
My aim is that we both get what we need from the meeting, that you feel heard and understood, that your questions are answered, that you feel I know the feeling and style you are going for in the space. That you understand what happens after our consultation and that you can relax and eagerly await my design report, confident that I will deliver a personal and timeless design to you.
.
Let me know what you think ๐Ÿ˜‰
