Rather than simply listing shops I have put together some Limerick Gift Guides, focusing on independent, Limerick owned businesses. As I couldn’t include every shop in Limerick this is just a small, curated selection featuring over 30 businesses.

Support Limerick Charity shops
A great way to be more environmentally aware and shop sustainably for Christmas is to shop for preloved items in a Limerick Charity shop. There are so many great charity shops in Limerick. Shopping in them helps in two ways, it prevents clothing and furniture going to landfill and it also supports local charities so pop in and see what you can find.
Support local Limerick restaurants
Another great gift idea is be to buy your loved ones a voucher for one of the many popular Limerick restaurants listed here.

Limerick Milk Market
Before you read any further a one stop shop for all your gifts could be the covered Milk Market in the heart of Limerick city. The Milk Market is in existence since 1852 and facilitates local producers selling arts and crafts, fresh food, fashion, plants, health and beauty products. It is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is the place to go to buy gifts and support local businesses.

When I was putting together the Limerick Gift Guides below I went for a gifts that cost around €50 just to keep it simple but there are gifts at every price point available on the websites.
Gifts for the Coffee Lover
Limerick might just be the best place for a coffee lover to visit as there are so many cafes to sip an americano in. Check out the extensive list of Limerick cafes on Tripadvisor.
In Limerick city you have a huge range of coffee shops where you can buy coffee beans and all the tools you need to brew delicious coffee at home. Since March 2020 (lockdown started in Ireland) we have gotten serious about our coffee at home. We now have a coffee grinder, milk frother, aeropress and always extra coffee beans in the freezer so we are able to make delicious coffee at home!
Rift Coffee, Habit, Canteen and Hook and Ladder are all open for takeaway coffees and a chat in Limerick city. And they stock coffee beans, ground coffee and coffee making accessories so they are perfect for putting together a gift set for any coffee lovers in your family.



And while not technically in Limerick The Old Barracks in Birdhill is an absolute destination for any coffee lover. They can provide you with a wealth of information on coffee and the coffee bar is home to 1000kg cast iron coffee roasting machine. Live roasting happens most days and this is part of the experience at their coffee bar. They have a huge range of coffee making equipment available in store and online.

Again while we’re in Tipperary Ponaire in Newport has delicious hand blended coffee and a delightful range of food to go with it. Ponaire was established in 2006 by Tommy and Jennifer Ryan and roasts all of the coffee it produces and can trace every bag of coffee back to the farm it came from. Well worth a spin out or check out their website.

Gifts for the Foodie
Bobby Byrnes which was established in 1963, is renowned for it’s food, drink and atmosphere. They offer beautiful gift baskets at various price points featuring lots of family favourites.

Again just hopping across the border to Co. Clare and these delicious chocolates from Wilde chocolate. Making chocolates since 1997 they have a wide range of gift sets for the chocolate lover in your family. You can buy the gift sets directly from their website.

Eats of Eden is the place to go for all things health and dietary related in Limerick. They have a long history in Limerick city and stock a wide range of foods, natural skincare products, vitamins and minerals and natural remedies. Pop in and speak to one of their very knowledgeable, qualified staff or shop online for gifts.

La Fromagerie in Limerick city stocks a huge range of cheeses, artisan foods and accompaniments and if you pop in you will be able to find that perfect gift for the food lover in the family.

Gifts for the wine and beer connoisseur
Treaty City Brewery is a local Limerick brewery based on Nicholas Street and brews fabulous tasting beers (I may have had one or two in my time!). They offer gift vouchers as well as beer gift sets of ale, lager or IPA or this mixed selection. And you can also visit them for a brewery tour.

The Wine Buff on Mallow Street in Limerick is the perfect place to find a wide selection of wines for every taste and budget. Growing from small beginnings in Limerick they are now nationwide and also have a shop in the wine capital of France, St Emilion. Hugely knowledgeable staff will advise you on what to pair with your cheeses, meats or desserts for any special occasion.
Gifts for the book lover
O’Mahonys in Limerick city centre is a Limerick institution and has a wide range of books and toys. You can be sure of a welcoming reception as soon as you walk in. The staff are on hand to advise and recommend what to choose for any book lovers in your household.
Talking Leaves in Castletroy shopping centre and the Crescent Bookshop in the Crescent shopping centre are now online as “Sweet Reads”. You can find some great books for adults and children alike. You can also stock up on some sweet treats when you are in store.
Quay Books on Sarsfield Street (formerly in Arthurs Quay) in Limerick offer a huge range of books at unbelievable value. They stock classics and contemporary books and have so many hidden treasures on their website.
Gifts for the plant lover
White Dove Nurseries offer unusual and unique floral bouquets and plants and cut foliage for any time of the year. You can get in touch on Instagram or find them in the Milk Market at the weekends. I will be popping in for some fresh eucalyptus this year to decorate my house for Christmas. Tara also has a new shop at Wickham Way in Limerick city.

Busy Bee Garden Centre on the Ennis Road has a huge selection of plants, outdoor gardening equipment and seasonal decorations. It is also a favourite spot for picking up a fresh Christmas tree. Really friendly and helpful staff make it a great place to call into.
Flowers by Karen designs and delivers fresh flowers all around Limerick. She has lovely wreaths available through her Facebook page at the moment.

Gifts for the Home Decor enthusiasts
31 Chapel Lane in Limerick was established in 2012 by Damien and Joi Hannigan. It is an independent family-run luxury clothing label and garment making house. It has a beautifully curated range of pieces made from Irish linen, pure wool and Donegal tweed. They also have strong ethical and sustainable credentials.

Simply Glenstal have some beautiful gifts made in Glenstal Abbey including this gorgeous candle delicately scented by La Bougie and hand poured by the monks of Glenstal.

By Design – A Local Story is a recent addition to the Limerick Art and Craft scene and is stocked full of beautiful pieces made by local craftspeople and artists. It is located in the Castletroy Shopping Centre and has clothing, candles, art, jewellery, self care products, pottery and cards for sale. Well worth a visit or shop online on their new website.

Made in Limerick is a city centre based craft shop which has recently moved to a great new location on 113 Henry Street. They are a group of local designers, makers and artists and sell beautiful crafts, decorations, jewellery, art, flowers and clothing.

Liam Madden is a Limerick based graphic designer/illustrator who has a very unique style. Hugely popular, you can get his prints by contacting him through his Instagram account or buy online on Iamfy.

Pressed flowers by Nell operates from 54 Roches St and is run by Nell who has a background in floristry and is passionate about her work. She offers bespoke pressed wedding bouquets and also flower prints and cards in her delicate style.

Gifts for self care
Duo is the go to place in Limerick for all things eco friendly, sustainable and ethical and you can get a delicious coffee while you shop. Paul has a carefully curated range of self care products, art prints, books, cards, pottery, food and storage products. Everything is available from his new, larger store on Sarsfield Street or he offers delivery nationwide.

The Limerick Mother and daughter duo Mimi and Martha have a huge range of gifts available on their website. From candles to prints to scarves to chocolates and soaps. All expertly selected by Mimi and Martha themselves. They ship nationwide. Would highly recommend them for their great customer service and wide variety of products.

Natural Skincare on Thomas St in Limerick can help you with any skincare needs you might have. They have a wide range of natural products and really know what they are talking about. They also stay up to date on any new developments in the realm of skincare and are considered experts in their field by their loyal customers. There are lots of gorgeous gifts to choose from on their website.

Namaste Skin Clinic and Urban Day Spa is the ultimate destination for facials, body treatments, nailcare and for a holistic approach to any skincare concerns you might have. It is a warm and relaxing oasis in Limerick city. You can buy products and gift vouchers on their website.

Gifts for the Fashion Lover
White Feather Boutique on Denmark St is a fashion boutique owned and run by Laura Walsh. It opened in 2019 and is a lovely spot to browse around. They stock a wide range of affordable clothing and accessories. The friendly staff are always on hand to help you pick out that special piece for yourself or as a gift.

O’Donnell Boutique is a Limerick institution, established in 1946 it offers a wide range of quality clothing and accessories. You can shop online and they offer free nationwide shipping.
